Eloping in Qualicum Beach | An International Adventure

When Jane from Circle Ceremonies called me and told me she had a wonderful couple coming from the UK to get married, and they needed a photographer, I was over the moon! Hanging out with people from around the world is one of my most favourite things on this planet, but doing so for their elopement in the incredible nature that Qualicum Beach has to offer?! An absolute dream come true!

The day of our elopement, we were hoping for the sunshine that has blessed our island summers for so many years, but instead we got something much more expected in the rainforests of Vancouver Island- dark clouds and the promise of rain. We had planned to set up the ceremony on the beach so they could say their vows with their feet in the beautiful Salish Sea, but to avoid the promised wind and rain we quickly changed plans- moving our celebration to Hamilton Marsh!

Although we still had the clouds and the threat of rain with us, we knew this location would be protected from the wind, and would offer us amazing backdrops of water and forest as well! One of my favourite things about working with Jane is that she and I share a love for both nature and adventure, so when something changes last minute, it doesn’t take much for us to work together and get the problem solved! And I don’t think our choice to change locations could have worked out any better!

Although a bit of the wind did find us, the rain held off, and that little bit of movement from the elements just added to the magic of the day!

After the ceremony we headed down the road to Cameron Lake for some final photos before these two beautiful ladies continued on their island and west coast adventure, which lead them all over- including into the Broughton Archipelago where they were lucky enough to hang out with Orcas! But that’s not my story to tell…

If you are eloping on Vancouver Island and would like some help currating a unique experience that speaks to who you and your partner are, what your love is, and the beauty of nature, give me a shout! I would love to chat!
